Bakewell Methodist Church

Who We Are
We are a friendly church at the centre of Bakewell, in the Peak District National Park. You would be very welcome to join us for Sunday Services or one of our other activities.
We seek to help members of the Church family to grow in their relationship with God and with each other in order to bring people to Christ, to witness to God’s love, and to serve God throughout our local community and the wider world.
All are welcome
Sunday Services and Other Activities
Join us for Sunday Worship and other events

Join us at Bakewell Methodist Church, Haddon Road, Bakewell, DE45 1EL (See map below)
Sunday Services 10:30am followed by tea, coffee, biscuits and chat in Church Hall. (Visitors very welcome to join us for coffee (we're a friendly bunch) but leaving is fine if that's what you prefer).
The services follow a standard free church pattern but varying from traditional to more modern, depending on who is leading the service. There are also the following two types of services which can vary from the usual services to a certain extent -
- Lay led services (called local arrangements) : Services led by skilled members of the congregation. These can vary a little from the traditional services - by having a number of short reflections and meditations instead of a full sermon; sometimes being about contemporary issues or a subject that a sermon may not cover; sometimes including something creative etc.
- Café Church : These services, with tea and coffee, are held in the Church Hall. The service may be very similar to a traditional service but may include an element of discussion with others round your table. (Don't be daunted by this - Visitors join in the discussions or sit and listen).

Jorge Acevedo founded a multi-site church called Grace Church in the Fort Myers area of Florida. He now undertakes a teaching and mentoring role, particularly for pastors seeking to develop new forms of church, especially multi-site churches (www.jorgeacevedo.com). Jorge will give a short testimony to the goodness of God.
“This promises to be an exciting, stimulating and rare opportunity to share worship with two experienced, Godly, mission- minded Methodist pastors” (Rev Martyn Atkins).
Please make every effort to attended so we can ensure a generous and warm welcome to our friends from overseas.

Sunday 1st June 10:30am Hathersage Methodist Church - Peace Pilgrimage service
The Peace Pilgrimage comes to the Hope Valley (29 May-2 June). Christian CND (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) is a group of activists from across the UK who work and pray for a world free of nuclear weapons. At the end of May they are holding a ‘peace pilgrimage’ travelling through Sheffield and the Hope Valley. The aim of the pilgrimage is to raise awareness, spend time in prayer and reflection, and meet with local peace groups. They will be helping to lead the 10.30am service at Hathersage Methodist Church on Sunday 1 June - all welcome. www.christiancnd.org.uk
